Founder and Managing Director James Kitching is the former Head of Sports Legal Services, Disciplinary and Governance at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), where he spent just over 5 years. During this time, he witnessed tremendous growth in the professionalism of Asian football and sport in the Asia-Pacific region in general. He recognised a gap in the market for a professional services firm, specialising in international sports regulatory and business advice.

In September 2017, James left the AFC and established Kitching Sports, the first specialist international sports regulation and business firm in the Asia-Pacific region.

Kitching Sports is serviced by full-time staff and freelance consultants who are engaged on a project basis. Offices have been established in Adelaide, Australia and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. There are plans to open an office in the Middle East in the near future.

What we do
Kitching Sports specialises in providing tailored advice to the international sports industry, with a particular focus on dispute resolution, regulatory matters, investigations and audits, business advice and strategy, education, and intermediary services.

Our clients are governing bodies, clubs, athletes, officials, coaches and support staff, intermediaries, law firms, and professional associations.

Kitching Sports charges on a fixed fee or hourly basis. Like our end product, our quotes are specifically tailored to the project we are working on and the client we are working for.

At its core business, Kitching Sports advises upon the regulations and decisions of sports governing bodies and sports arbitration service providers; the private regulatory framework established within the world of international sport.

Kitching Sports does not provide Australian or Malaysian legal advice or accounting services. Should you require such services, we can recommend a partner firm.
